November 19, 2011 marks the debut of Gunner Johnson’s latest exhibit, a show at the James Gray Gallery that brings together children and weapons in a truly unique – and entertaining – fashion. Yes,
entertaining. In fact, our featured Raging Artist is all about entertainment and humor. “I didn’t set out to make a statement about violence or guns per se,” says Johnson, who gained prominence with his Gothic set pieces for films such as Batman Forever (and who turned down work on the new Dark Knight film to complete this new exhibit). “I just feel that when you juxtapose imposing, even terrifying, weapons with the innocence of youth, it puts things in perspective.”
Honda Odyssey 2012 Experiment
Minivans aren’t sexy and they are not a hot topic on the Web, so we had our work cut out for us with this experiment. Within 24 hours of launching our video, however, it made the first page of Google for “Honda Odyssey,” “minivan campaign,” and more. It garnered positive reviews from automotive blogs like Edmunds Inside Line, Autoweek, TopGear, and Autoblog, as well as mommy blogs, and advertising blogs like Great-Ads, which referred to the work as a “brilliant new ad campaign.” Honda itself tweeted about the spot on day two. As of January 4, 2012, it held the top position on the first page of Google for “Honda Odyssey 2012″.

Songwriter, multi-media artist, set designer, kitsch collector, and director Allee Willis is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met.
One might admire Allee simply for her dexterity in producing various multimedia projects under the title “Bubbles and Cheesecake,” via which she deftly handles composition (with singer-songwriter Holly Palmer of Gnarls Barkley), singing, drawing, animating, producing and directing. The lively songs and videos demonstrate Allee’s creative knack in full.
Of course, there’s always the fact that Allee’s songs — “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire; “Who Let In The Rain” by Cyndi Lauper and “What Have I Done To Deserve This” by the Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield — have sold over 50,000,000 copies. In addition to her hit singles, she also co-wrote — with Brenda Russell, Stephen Bray and Marsha Norman — the soundtrack for “The Color Purple,” a musical produced by Oprah Winfrey that opened on Broadway in 2005. In 1995, Allee won an Emmy for “I’ll Be There for You,” the theme song from the popular television show, “Friends.”
