duotone audio group: AMC’s Rubicon Previews with Music from Pete Nashel
“Rubicon,” AMC’s latest drama, is set to premiere August 1, 2010. AMC offered a sneak preview of the one-hour pilot on Sunday, June 6, after the season finale of “Breaking Bad.”
Scored by duotone’s Pete Nashel, the show received early praise from the NY Times, Rolling Stone, and others:
“AMC’s stellar track record of Mad Men and Breaking Bad speaks for itself – and Rubicon seems to be in the same elite class,” writes Peter Travers in Rolling Stone, calling the show a “superbly brainy thriller.” The NY Times says “‘Rubicon’ seems irresistible: a suspenseful series laced with conspiracy and espionage in the style of classic 1970s thrillers like ‘Three Days of the Condor’ and ‘The Parallax View.’”

Mophonics Makes Muscle Milk Music with Comedy Campaign from Pereira & O’Dell
Pardon the alliteration in the title – we know it doesn’t do justice to the great creative from Pereira & O’Dell or the excellent music from Mophonics‘ Mark Foster. “Katie” may not be the brightest bulb in town, but she is in great shape and looking HOT – thanks to Muscle Milk – which leaves her with no shortage of companions on her morning jog:

“This was an unusually creative and collaborative process and we had great time doing it,” recalls Mophonics‘ Josh Marcy, who produced and composed the music with Mark Foster for Muscle Milk “Spring Break it Down,” a viral video for the brand, created via agency Pereira O’Dell. “It was hilarious. Most of the time we were recording, we were trying to not laugh over takes.”
The Mophonics team worked closely with director Jeremy Konner of Partizan. ”The production team came to Mophonics and we all sat together and we wrote lyrics,” Marcy says. ”Jeremy threw ideas at us musically and we riffed with him on the lyrics. He had an idea that we would do this slowed down section in the middle. Tempo changes are notoriously hard to pull off, but in the end, it’s one of the coolest parts of the song.”

With Music by Mophonics, THINK! Biker Campaign Puts a Face on Safe Driving
“Named Rider,” a new spot for the UK’s Department for Transport (DFT), features motorcyclists on the road with bold, stylized neon signs bearing their names and other information. The concept was inspired by research indicating drivers are more careful around bikers when they actually know one. Created via Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO as part of its THINK! campaign, the spot showcases an original track composed by Stephan Altman of Mophonics. The song, “If You Got To Know Me,” has a bouncy, friendly feel that perfectly suits the spot, airing now in the UK and across the Web. The full-length version is currently available for download here.
