Co-founder/Chief Creative Officer, Creative Monster Productions

Capitalizing on the fusion of Hollywood and technology with his extensive backgrounds in film and computer graphics, Grant Anderson recently left Sony Pictures to form Creative Monster Productions with Co-founder/CFO Bryan Gambogi. The endeavor brings unique and innovative entertainment to the commercial, film, television, and new media markets using cutting edge production techniques and technology.

Grant is an established Producer, VFX Supervisor, and Digital Artist in the film industry. Most recently, he served as the Stereoscopic DFX Supervisor on Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and CG Supervisor on Beowulf 3D. He supervised a team of nearly a hundred to create the FX for some of the largest sequences in Spider-Man 3; Grant was responsible for over 200 FX shots in the film, and directed his teams from the shooting and capture stages in Los Angeles and New York through the final composites on screen.

Previously, he served as CG Supervisor and Digital Artist on some of Sony Pictures Imagework’s biggest movies including Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man, The Matrix 2: Reloaded, Lord of the Rings 2: The Two Towers, and The Aviator, among others. Before coming to Sony Pictures, Grant worked with the creator of Spider-Man himself, Stan Lee, to form Stan Lee Media. As a Producer, he used his skills to blend the art of feature film with the interactivity of online entertainment. Grant also served as a Digital Artist at Disney and at visual effects powerhouse Digital Domain, where he worked on James Cameron’s Academy Award winning film, “Titanic.” Prior to embarking on his film career, Grant was a Sr. Software Engineer at Apple Computer, responsible for supporting their key multimedia technologies; his freelance credits include creating interactive multimedia applications for several Fortune 500 companies.

“Years ago, it might have been a natural progression for me to open my own visual effects shop,” Grant says of his decision to launch Creative Monster Productions. “Today, the applications of technology to advertising are vast, and commercial production in particular has been in need of a new business model. So, we’ve created that model.”

Great article. There’s a lot of good data here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Fedora with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the design of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can understand the articles, but the navigation doesn’t function so well.
