LA Gear Sneaker Girl: Politics (NOT) As Usual

LA Gear Sneaker Girl: Politics (NOT) As Usual

Sportie LA Unveils its Own ‘Mini-Stimulus Plan,’ with Help from Kamila Kalish

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, February 10, 2009 – When a YouTube video goes viral, it usually means people want to share some laughs, or a message. In the case of a new video from the vlogger known as LA Sneaker Girl, they also may be sharing a discount, thanks to top indie retailer Sportie LA.

The vlogger, Kamila Kalish, wears only LA Gear sneakers in her postings. A teacher from Las Vegas (believe it or not, they DO have schools there!), Kamila met the Sportie LA team last year at a trade show and gave her some new gear – LA Gear, as it happens (the brand has just relaunched an updated version of their classic Unstoppable line).

The owners of Sportie LA were so moved by Kamila’s latest video – an emotional posting in which she reflects on the appointment of Hillary Rodham Clinton as the third female Secretary of State – that they are having Kamila share a 10% discount on all of its brand new LA Gear product, Wednesday, February 11.

"Hers is a great message," said Justo A. Diaz, of content and marketing eGency SLAM, which  is presiding over the relaunch and has already gotten a lift from the Sneaker Girl’s videos. "Kamila has established herself as a strong-minded independent woman and she’s moved by the opportunity we have as a nation and the times we live in. We all want to participate in that, to feel good and hopeful." Diaz added that sharing the discount "was a chance for us to add practical value on top of the message, and create a ‘mini-stimulus plan’ for customers."

While this subject can be very touchy for most people, my opinion is that there has to be a middle or common ground that we all can find. I do appreciate that youve added relevant and intelligent commentary here though. Thank you!
