LONDON, January 7, 2008 – After ten years as partner to Robert Campbell at Outsider, Toby Courlander has left the company to concentrate on writing a feature film project. Courlander joined Outsider shortly after Campbell started the company in February 1997. Since then, he has produced for several directors, including David Lodge, Johan Gulbranson, and, most recently, Elaine Constantine.
"I took some time off this summer to write a film project I’ve had on the back-burner for some time, but once I got into it, it became increasingly clear that it would be very hard to return to my role at Outsider. The writing bug had struck," said Courlander. "I’ve been on a fantastic journey with Robert since he started Outsider, and I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved there. Hopefully, I’ll be able to walk back in there one day with a budget for a movie. Nothing would make me happier."
Campbell said, "Whilst I am sad to see Toby leave the company, it’s been clear to me that his heart is in his writing right now. As such he leaves with my blessing, at a time when we are producing great work, with a great roster of directors, and with a very optimistic view of what the future holds."
Merry Christmas, you schmuck and give my love to your family. I wish you the best in 2009 and hope that your wife earns a hell of a lot of money. Fuck the Blues and Glory, glory Man United. Johan
